+ Lolly the Trolley Tour to Lakeview Cemetery to see the Garfield Memorial and other historic sites there, proposed by Tammy Ball.   DATE SET for July 19, 2008.  Reservations due by May 25.

 

+ Send New Worship Initiatives Team to Designing Worship Conference (blessings given, but postponed due to conference being cancelled)

 

+ Welcome Back Potluck for Pastor Allen, June 22, from Sharon Thomas/Elders

 

+New Printer For Messenger, Michelle Brown, a new color printer for the Messenger newsletter.

 

+ Security for February Special Worship, New Worship Initiative Team

 

+Thanksgiving Day Affair, Thursday, November 22, 3-6 p.m. (volunteers from 2 - 7:30 p.m.), gym, chapel.  A time and place for the community to gather for fun, food, and fellowship.  Games, musicians, a movie, a worship service, and a thanksgiving dinner will be provided.  Led by Joe and Ann Wolf and Doris Quisenberry.  Volunteers Needed!

+Diaconate Appreciation Dinner, Saturday, November 24, 4 p.m., Parlor.  A dinner to say "Thank You" to the diaconate who have worked so hard in the past year.  Led by Joe Stanley and Bev Wurm.

+HIV/AIDS Ministry, Sunday, November 18 and Sunday, November 25.  Several resources will be provided all members of the congregation, including a devotional booklet printed by The Upper Room, to help deal with HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses.  Personal testimonies will be shared in worship, and a panel will be offered following worship on November 25 for persons in our congregation to tell their stories about living with HIV and AIDS.  Led by Sharon Thomas.

 

+ Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27 from 1 - 3 p.m. in the church gym led by the Christian Education Team 

 

+ Replacement Hymnals - Norma Stearns & Leila Streidl, to replace hymnals lost/stolen since they were purchased to honor the donors who gave them.

+ Musician Honorariums - New Worship Initiatives Team, to cover honorariums for musicians for the March 16 and April 7 special worship services.

+ Kitchen Painting - Christian Women’s Fellowship, Jean Borelli, chair, to have the kitchen and its cabinets repainted.


+ Nursery Teacher Stipend – Christian Education Team, Jean Borrelli and Ann Wolf, co-chairs: to pay a small honorarium to the Nursery Teacher to ensure we have a safe and consistent presence in the nursery for our infants, $10 p/Sunday.

 

+ Resource for New Member/Inquirer’s Class -  Pastor Allen, materials for April/May classes.

 

+ New nursery furniture, Christian Education Team, including a “feeder table” and teacher’s chair.


+ Media Guide – Evangelism & Publicity Team, Pastor Allen Harris, chair: to purchase a 2007-2008 Media Guide from the Center for Community Solutions to have up-to-date media contact information for print, radio, and television media, $40.


+ Plain Dealer Ad – Mission Council, Bev Wurm, chair: to purchase a “display ad” for the 165th Anniversary Celebration in the religion section of the February 10 issue of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, $180.
 

+ 165th Anniversary Celebration – Mission Council, Bev Wurm, chair: to purchase the main dish for the Old Fashioned Potluck on Saturday, February 17, to set the details for the event, increase to $280 for larger anticipated crowd.


+ Worship Development Video – New Worship Initiatives Team, Pastor Allen Harris, chair: to purchase a video and guide from another congregation which has gone through a process of worship renewal, $30.

 

+ 165th Anniversary Celebration, Mission Council/Pastor Allen, to celebrate the anniversary of the church through a potluck dinner and special service of worship, $170 for main dish, checking on ad in the Plain Dealer, February 17 @ 5p.m. and February 18 @ 10:30 a.m.,

 

+ Super Sub Sale, Patty Groetsch/Youth Group, money to purchase supplies for Submarine Sandwich sale by youth, to be reimbursed, proceeds to go to Camp Scholarship fund, up to $300, February 4.
 

+ Sock It To Me, Annie Wolf, to have a sock drive for the Homeless Stand Down in February, $0 (all donations), prior to January 26.


+ OCEA Christian Ministry Conference, Joe Wolf, to pay registration for up to 6 people to attend the conference, up to $300 (6 registration x $45, $30 for gas), March 2 & 3.
 

+ Stand Up And Be Counted, Joe Stanley, to have groups within the church host a “booth” at Community Hour to educate congregation regarding what the group does, starting with the Diaconate, Elders, Trustees; $50 for supplies, February 25 – Diaconate; March 4 – Elders; March 11 – Trustees.
 

+ Worship Team 2007 Annual Budget, Carrie Culleen, to cover the 2007 costs for the Worship, including supplies, guest musicians, special bulletin covers, seasonal devotional books, and Memorial Sunday flowers; $2,285.


+ New Worship Initiatives Team - To explore the possibilities of a new worship service at FCCC, led by Pastor Allen;


+ Evangelism/Publicity Team - To plan a more comprehensive publicity and evangelism campaign for our church, led by Pastor Allen (initially);
 

+Youth Group - ongoing - A Sunday School class for youth ages 11-22, hopefully developing into a full fledge Youth Group, led by Patty Groetsch (Sub Sandwich Sale a huge success!);
 

+Education Endeavor - ongoing - Support the ongoing Christian Education program including the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Movie and Game Nights, Rally Day, Halloween Party, led by Brenda Torrey;

 

Endeavors on hold for further information:
 

~ Messenger Upgrade - To enable the Messenger newsletter to become full-color.  Led by Michelle Brown. (Research is being done as to how to most economically and efficiently offer color in our church's newsletter)

~ Photo Directory (In House) - led by Cheryl Yurcak; to photograph members of the congregation and create a Directory for use by the membership.

~Newcomer's Class - ongoing - inform and involve new members into the history and practices of Franklin Circle Christian Church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and provide a forum for discussing ways to embrace and involve new members and others thinking of joining,

~Cooking For Nursing Home - once a month - providing a "home cooked meal" for some of the residents of Franklin Plaza Nursing Home, led by William D. House;
~Bookstore - ongoing - Creating a Christian bookstore at FCCC to serve the community, led by Jean Borrelli;
~Geographic Recreation (Day Trip) - date TBA - plan a day trip to offer renewal of the spirit to members and friends, led by Joe Wolf;
 

Endeavors received, but not yet approved:
 

~ Phim Pham Phooey - February 19, 2006 - Have a potluck after church and create "Phooeys" (craft items) to take to Lutheran Hospital patients to cheer them up, led by Joe Wolf, (postponed due to illness);

Past Successful Endeavors:
!Stone Soup Cookies has TWICE gathered kids to bake cookies for others (and a few for themselves) including the USO and the neighborhood caroling party.
!Thanksgiving Affair offered 75 neighbors a dynamic worship service, bingo, crafts, a view of the football game, and dinner on Thanksgiving Day!
!FCCC Youth Group meets each Sunday at 10:45 a.m., oftentimes for breakfast, but always for faithful conversation and planning. They hosted a Drop To Shop on December 11 for busy parents. 
!Valentines Diaconate Social/Potluck - Several members of the Diaconate gathered on February 17 for fellowship, food, and to learn from neighborhood activist, Tim Walters, about how to better help persons in need;
!Education Trip To Regional Retreat - February 18 seven FCCC folks attended the Christian Education retreat in Columbus to learn more about how to make our Sunday School grow;
!Passion Play/Seder - April 12 & 13 - Special foods of the Bible tasting event “Food For Thought” on Wednesday and a reenactment of the Last Supper as part of the Maundy Thursday worship service, led by Joe Stanley;
!Messenger Working Group - ongoing THROUGH MARCH 2006 - Folks committed to supporting the production of our church's newsletter;
!Needful Machine - ongoing - Provide a feminine hygiene vending machine for the public to provide dignity, especially the street female population, led by Doris Quisenberry & Joe Wolf;

! Friendship Luncheon - June 11, 2006 - a luncheon after church, specifically geared for FCCC folks to invite friends, who we will host with special attention, and just to allow folks to be fed with fun, food, and fellowship, led by Joe and Annie Wolf.  Over 80 people were in attendance and the special guest speaker, Dr. Doug Van Auken was warmly received;
! Outdoor Worship & Picnic - July 16, 2006 - our annual outdoor service of worship and picnic, only this year at Edgewater Park's Upper Pavilion, led by Beverly Wurm.  This was wonderfully received and well attended, in spite of the heat.  Thanks also to Anne Schilling and Clifford Porter and others for their help.;

! 2006Weekly & Seasonal Worship Services - ongoing - to provide materials and oversight necessary for weekly worship and special events (worship & music), led by Norma Stearns and Amy Dolzine,
! Music Program 2006 - ongoing - money for special music for holidays and other music needs, led by Amy Dolzine & Norma Stearns; Money for Lent and Easter approved, further items to be addressed throughout the year.

! Lead Paint Orientation - Educational event to help parents and teachers understand the problems of lead paint and to know how to address its presence in the home or church.  Led by Annie Wolf;
