Franklin Circle Christian Church, 1688 Fulton Rd., Cleveland, Ohio

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER (WDP) is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many faith traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March.

Throughout the entire day, we collectively pray all over the world, beginning with the first sunrise and ending at the last sunset. Our prayers follow the sun’s path around the globe. WDP’s motto is “Informed prayer leads to prayerful action.”

Through World Day of Prayer, women affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and that both have immeasurable influence in the world.

WORLD COMMUNITY DAY
November 2, 2007 “Embracing Justice Under God’s Tent”
This World Community Day worship lifts concerns of homelessness, immigration, and responses to disaster with an emphasis on the Psalms. Writers Kristina Peterson and Kathleen Clark, members of the national CWU Celebrations Committee, invite you to stretch yourself and join with others to learn and pray and act for a just and peaceful world community for all humanity. The worship service focuses on a meditation, “We Have Names,” which describes those who have been resident aliens in strange lands, wanderers throughout history, those exiled and uprooted and remnants in society -- then and now.

The offering taken at World Community Day is sent to the National Office to help the Church Women United movement with operating funds .
