EVERLASTING PEACE - Brenda Torrey

During the time when Jesus was born, the angels in Heaven declared that God's son would bring peace on Earth.

The world in which we live today is hardly peaceful; there is turmoil everywhere, nations fighting against nations, the war in Afghanistan, and the war in Iraq. There is turmoil and conflict in our families. Yes even in my own family there were things done and said that caused conflict, and left me with the task of being peacemaker.

Sometimes even our churches are caught up in turmoil where the members are fighting against the pastor and vice-versa, and even at Franklin Circle there was a conflict with the anti-racism team where some members felt we were trying to divide the church. After a lot of explaining and TLC we resolved things peacefully, and have moved on to acceptance..

Long about now you are probably asking yourselves, how can I have peace in my life.

Only through Jesus Christ can we have that inner peace. John 16:33 says, "These things I have spoken until you that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer I have overcome the world." and having Christ in our lives we can have spiritual peace.

Until the day of Christ's return where we can have peace on Earth which means no more wars, strife or conflict and the lion will lay down with the lamb, we can have some semblance of peace listening to soothing music, or sitting by a peaceful stream, finding a quiet spot in our home to read our Bible, pray and meditate. Remember that true peace I'm talking about. Spiritual peace only comes from God and a life with Him. The Peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus, and you will have everlasting peace.
